Dear HSC member
It is with regret that I must announce I will be stepping down as the Commodore of the club. I have not been able to give the job all the time it deserves and feel it right for me to step down and allow someone else to take over.
It has been a great two years with some real highlights being the spruce up of the interior of the club, the replacement of the heating and Contender European Championships last year. All of these things are achieved by the great effort of the committee and you the members.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for their support and you the members for your backing during my term and wish my successor well and happy sailing to you all.

12 HSC sailors turned up again for last Sunday’s Interclub racing, good show guys!
Quick report for those who weren’t there
An impressive 50 boats came out to play again for the races 3&4 of the Interclub in light Northwesterly winds and some very glorious sunshine. Race 3 kicked off with a little bit of confusion, leaving a trio of Lasers to cross the start line first and take advantage of clean air out to the windward mark. Last week’s battle between Tim Reid (Laser) and James Rusden (Laser) resumed with the pair battling head to head the whole way round. Managing to turn the tables this week, Tim successfully bagged the first race and took the win for the Mudeford SC team with James finishing 14 seconds behind and having to settle for 2nd place and John Challener (Laser) taking 3rd place.
As the few clouds disappeared, the wind dwindled and despite starting race 4 of the series, it soon became clear that there wasn’t enough puff left in the harbour to complete the race and so it was that the Race Team took the decision to can the race, much to the relief of some and the inevitable frustration of others. All in, the extremely varied fleet enjoyed the calm conditions although it is fair to say, most would have preferred a little more wind
Results to date. 1st Mudeford SC 254 points, 2nd Highcliffe SC 322 points and Christchurch SC 355 points.
Top Sailors: 1st HSC Rusden 4 points, 2nd MSC Reid 5 points, MSC Challener 11 points
Weather for sailing this weekend looks quite pleasant, warmish for October and a lovely SW 2-4.
YOUR IMPORTANT CLUB AGM IS ON A THURSDAY
THURSDAY 23rd November will be our AGM
As previously mentioned, if you would like to get involved and help out your club the following Committee jobs will be coming up:-
Club Social Secretary
Please let firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join the team and get involved.
Sailing Clubs up and down the country rely on the time and effort poured in by their members who give up their weekends and their evenings to volunteer and in this respect HSC is no exception. Thanks to all those who donated their time and energy for the Nationals in September, not only did our visitors leave with big smiles and a promise to come back, but the event has successfully earned the club a profit of over £7000 which will help towards keeping subs and dingy park costs down for another year.
With devastating rate changes hitting clubs like ours and with ongoing and constantly increasing expenses, it is Open meetings such as the Phantoms/Europes which keep our little club’s head above water. So, thank you for all the lifting, cooking, pouring, serving, writing, organising, carrying, pushing, swimming, rescuing, fretting, bobbing and of course socialising, you all make a super team! Thank you.
